International Day of the Girl Child is observed on 11th October across the globe to put the spotlight on enhancing skill-set of girls so they enter the future workforce on equal terms as their male counterparts.
A special assembly was conducted by the students of class 11 B, on the 12th of October 2018, to commemorate this day of vital importance. The theme for this year is “Empower Girls: Before, during and After Conflict”.
The assembly started off with a brief introduction to the day being observed. Shruti Chaturvedi recited a poem composed by her on the journey of a girl child right from womb to tomb. A video was screened which featured women motivating the viewers to respect and honor the girl child and provide her with basic rights to health, hygiene, education and safety. The assembly ended with the reading of a powerful quote to draw home the idea of gender equality .
